Bay Wheels Is Now Lyft Bike
If you've ever unlocked a Bay Wheels bike at the San Pedro Square, ridden across the Embarcadero on a Tuesday morning, or grabbed an ebike to meet some friends in Emeryville— you've been part of our almost 10 year bikeshare journey in the Bay Area. Thank you.
Today, we're turning a new page.
Bay Wheels is officially Lyft Bike in the Bay Area.

The bikes you know and love are the same. The stations at your go-to haunts are the same. Your membership, your trips, your routes — all of it carries over without a single change on your end. What's changing is the name on the bike, and what it signals about where we're going.
Why now?
Lyft has operated bike share in the Bay Area since 2019, and members of our team have operated since 2013. Thanks to the leadership of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, for more than a decade, Bay Area residents have been able to use a single bikeshare membership to travel by bike across numerous cities in the region.

What's different for riders?
Starting today, the Bay Wheels app will become Lyft Bike. When you dock your ride at a station, the signage will say Lyft Bike. When you unlock an ebike near your office, it'll carry our name.
And if you're already a Lyft rider, finding a bike is still as simple as ever: one app, one network, one brand.
What this means for San Francisco
Whether you've been part of our Bay Area journey since the beginning or you’re a curious bikeshare noob, we hope today feels like an invitation.
Welcome to Lyft Bike.
Lyft Bike is available in San Francisco, Berkeley, Emeryville, Daly City, Oakland, and San Jose. Download the Lyft app or the Lyft Bike app to find a bike near you.
